Leicester City have been lavished with praise by Bernardo Silva after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes lost for the second time in the Premier League this season after being outshot 22-7 by the defending champions in what could have been a heavier defeat for the hosts. Although the visitors controlled proceedings for the most part, holding 61 percent possession over the 90 minutes, Leicester still had plenty of chances themselves, with Harvey Barnes hitting the bar and Jamie Vardy having a great goal disallowed for offside. Match-winner Bernardo Silva clearly holds Leicester in high esteem judging by his post-match comments, asserting that their beaten opponents are “one of the best” in England.
Bernardo Silva said: “They also had their chances. It’s a very tough team to play against. Leicester, for me, are one of the best teams in the league. We should have scored a little bit earlier in the first half but we got the three points and in a very tough place to play. We are very happy with the win. I always try to do my best to help the team and today I was able to with a goal so I’m very, very happy with that. We know how good they are on the ball. We know how this team plays. We suffered against them in the Community Shield. We tried to stop them on the counter-attacks. Our goalkeeper was very good today for us too. Three points and now we move on.”
Leicester will have the chance to bounce back next Sunday when they travel to high-flying Brighton, who are fourth in the Premier League table.
