Marcelo Bielsa believes Leeds should have created more chances against Everton thanks to their domination of possession in Saturday’s 2-2 draw. The Blues came away from Elland Road with a point thanks to goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray in either half, with the visitors being pegged back after taking the lead on both occasions. Rafa Benitez’s side had chances to potentially win the game, especially shortly after taking their 2-1 lead early in the second half of the match. And Bielsa believes that was the point where his side was most “fragile” and admitted that Everton didn’t need to dominate the match to create chances against his squad.
Marcelo Bielsa said: “The game was a big test for the team, and this was multiplied as we were behind twice to be able to draw to game, having dominated for so many moments. Given the mountains of minutes that we dominated, we should have created more chances at goal and we should have conceded less chances at our goal. We played against an opponent that didn’t need to dominate us to create danger. We didn’t start well for the second half and after the goal there was concerning moments. It was a product of the effect of having gone behind once again. It’s a normal situation in football when a team is losing and not because of that should you run the risk of conceding more. That’s to say that those moments posterior to the 2-1, were the most fragile of the team.”
