Christian Pulisic could potentially miss more than three weeks worth of action for Chelsea following his positive test for Covid-19. The American was confirmed to have contracted the virus by Blues boss Thomas Tuchel in a press conference on Friday, with Pulisic now having to oversee a period of self-isolation ahead of this weekend’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Thomas Tuchel said: “Christian has, unfortunately, had a positive test and needs to follow the protocols. He’s not been training and is not available for the game.”
As it stands, Pulisic is asymptomatic, and confirmed the news with a written statement on Instagram.
Christian Pulisic said: “Hi all, Unfortunately I tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week. Thankfully I’m fully vaccinated and I have no symptoms so far. Can’t wait to get back in action! Thank you for your support”
The news will of course be frustrating for Chelsea, with the Blues now missing a key part of their frontline ahead of a tough run of games, especially with the winger having started the season in great form with a goal in the 3-0 win against Crystal Palace. Focus will now turn to his potential return and it goes without saying that due to the ten-day mandatory self-isolation period, he will miss the Blues’ upcoming match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
