James Rodriguez has revealed that he does not expect to feature for Everton against Southampton this weekend. The Blues kick-off their Premier League campaign at home to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon. But it appears they will be doing so without the Colombian as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club. As reported by the ECHO earlier this month, Rodriguez has already been informed by the club that he can leave the Blues this summer. That is because the former Real Madrid man doesn’t feature in Rafa Benitez’s plans this season and he is free to leave, should the right offer be tabled. Rodriguez started against Manchester United last weekend in his side’s final pre-season fixture, but doubts he will be involved on Saturday.
James Rodriguez said: “There is a game on Saturday then, but I don’t know, I don’t think I’ll play. Anything can happen here at the end of the month, football always changes fast.”
Speaking on his Everton future earlier this week, Rodriguez told teammate Yerry Mina
James Rodriguez said: “We are at a club that is not the best, but you can compete with anyone. Football changes a lot; look at Messi; he is now at PSG. Physically, I’m fine; I haven’t felt like this for months. I want to have a good season whether it’s here or wherever, football takes many turns.”
