Son Heung-min has been talking about the mood in the Tottenham camp ahead of the season opener, amid the ongoing Kane speculation.
Heung-min Son said: “Everybody should be ready for every game, that is so important. There is a chance every game, we know how important that is. If you’re not focused, if you’re not ready, then every game we are going to struggle. That is why, in the pre-season, we are working really hard to try and make it as easy as possible for the coming season. We want to focus game by game to try and win the games and we will see when we arrive what we can achieve.”
Son also spoke about Espirito Santo and the impact he’s had on the changing room since being appointed Spurs boss in July.
Heung-min Son said: “I’ve really enjoyed [it]. It’s been maybe two or three weeks with the new manager, but I have a really good, positive feeling. I hope we can help the manager and the manager can help us so we can have a close side. I think we are looking positive, he looks positive. I think if we have a positive feeling in the changing room and on the pitch, that’s so important. Sometimes we forget this feeling but I think we have this positive feeling at the moment.”
The South Korea international, who recently signed a new long-term contract with Spurs, predicted that “big things” are to come from him and his team-mates, as his side prepare for the clash with Manchester City.
Heung-min Son said: “I had a couple of years left [on the current contract], and they showed how much they love me. It was already a big honour playing six years here and they’ve given me so much and I want to give them so much back. I’m grateful to be here, to honour, to play with this club and another four years – I think we can achieve big things.”
