Jesse Lingard has revealed he is feeling ‘much better’ after testing positive for covid-19. Manchester United brought their pre-season schedule to a confidence-boosting close on Saturday as they destroyed Everton 4-0 in a dominant display, with Mason Greenwood, Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot grabbing the goals. However, it wasn’t all good news as Lingard was ruled out of the match ahead of kick-off after testing positive for Covid.
Jesse Lingard said: “Really gutted to have tested positive after a good pre-season, luckily I feel fine and will follow the guidelines and be back with the boys on pitch very soon! Thank you for your support.”
The forward has now given another update, with positive signs that it could be a swift recovery.
Jesse Lingard said: “Feeling much better, thank you for all the messages,”
Lingard was in line to start against Everton before contracting the virus, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed, and after the match, the manager also gave an update on goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who tested positive three weeks ago and is yet to return to action.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Jesse feels OK. Hopefully, stay that way. Have to isolate. Dean is negative in testing but not as energised and sharp. Still fatigued. Got a few days to rest and then we will check up on him.”
