Young Manchester City attacker Ben Knight has admitted that he enjoyed the experience of playing as a central striker during Saturday evening’s 4-0 win over Barnsley at the Academy Stadium. Reflecting on his performance after playing up front, Knight, who usually tends to operate out wide or as an attacking-midfielder,
Ben Knight said: “It was something different. I haven’t played as a No.9 loads; I am more of a midfielder or a winger. But if Pep is asking me to play there I am not going to say no. It was something different and I felt I had been doing quite well. I scored tonight so it was positive.”
Knight, who played 61 minutes of the contest, believes his game is developing by being asked to operate as a striker, but has admitted that confidence has been a key factor.
Ben Knight continued: “I think it is just confidence. I think when you play with these players who are so good, they just bring the best out of you, so you know where to be at what time. For me, I think it is just confidence.”
Reviewing City’s performance overall,
Ben Knight added: “It was good, I thought we all played really well. It was always going to be tough playing against a physical team. We got a couple of early goals and then just played our game, it was good.”
