Steve Bruce says that Joelinton’s injury is not a big concern but is awaiting the result of a scan after a thigh injury suffered at York. The Brazilian forward limped off at the LNER Community Stadium and needed an ice pack after a first half knock. But despite lasting just 18 minutes, Bruce was not too concerned about the £40million man.
Steve Bruce said: “That is a disappointing thing. We all have to be careful of course, but he had a recurrence of a thigh injury. We don’t think it is the same injury as he had towards the end of last season. But until we have scans and all the rest of it we can’t assess it.”
Asked by Sky Sports News during his post-game Press conference if the injury was serious
Steve Bruce reflected: “No because he carried on a little bit. We didn’t want to take any risks. We don’t think so (it is serious) we won’t know until we get the scans and results we need.”
During the game, Isaac Hayden needed treatment for a knock but Bruce said that Joelinton was the only player to suffer a knock.
Steve Bruce added: “Everybody else come through OK.”
