Slavisa Jokanovic is eyeing his first moves in the transfer market but looks set to face competition from Birmingham for one of his targets. The Blades boss confirmed that he has held talks with the board and head of recruitment Paul Mitchell over his Sheffield United options and is keen to now press ahead with bringing in new arrivals. Speaking to Yorkshire Live from his hotel in Marbella following Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Europa Point, Jokanovic revealed discussions have now started internally about what targets to pursue and he is happy with the ones Mitchell has suggested.
Slavisa Jokanovic said: “I am talking with the board. The club have offered me some solutions (players) and I offer them some solutions from my side too. We need to move forward now and check what we can exactly do, what is realistic and what is not. They (recruitment team) have done a great job and I have a sensation that we can find these people who can help us with what is ahead of us.”
One of those put forward by Mitchell is understood to be Wolves defender Dion Sanderson. The central defender has been tracked by United’s talent spotter for the past two years and he had him watched closely during his loan spell at Sunderland last season. The 21-year-old can play on the right of two centre backs in a four, or on the right of a back three.
