Declan Rice was not joking when he said it is his dream to play in the Champions League. The England international is Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel’s first-choice midfield target in this summer’s transfer window, but it could take a bid of £100m to prize him away from London rivals West Ham United. It remains to be seen where Rice is playing his football during the 2021/22 campaign, but it is common knowledge that he wants to test himself on the biggest stage at some point in his career.
Declan Rice said: “To have that Champions League music playing, that’s where I want to be. It’s special, I can’t really describe it to be honest. As a kid it’s your dream, first of all to play in the Premier League, but to be competing for the Champions League [as well].”
A game that Mount provided the assist for Kai Havertz to score the only goal. And the reason Rice wants to steal it from Mount is quite simple.
Declan Rice explained: “Listen, a lot of top players didn’t win them and he’s won one. So I’d take that off him instantly.”
At just 22 years of age, there’s plenty of time for Rice to win his own Champions League medal, but the chances of that happening as early as next season will improve if he swaps West Ham for Chelsea.
