Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has shown his support for an England fan after they shared their experience of watching The Euro’s at Wembley. Joseph White, who is non binary and co-chair of Three Lions Pride and Pride in Football, attended their first ever game at Wembley wearing full make-up watching England play Germany in the Euros. They said that despite being “absolutely petrified” pre game, they were really proud of England’s fans for causing no issues.
Joseph white said: “This is a really small and personal point but today was my first game at Wembley in full makeup and overtly queer (as opposed to just camp). Absolutely no issues from fans and some lovely chats. Despite being absolutely petrified pre game, really proud of our fans.”
The tweet received 13,000 likes and was replied to by Liverpool captain and England player Jordan Henderson.
Jordan Henderson said: “Hi Joe great to hear you enjoyed the game as you should. No one should be afraid to go and support their club or country because football is for everyone no matter what. Thanks for your support, enjoy the rest of the Euros.”
The official England team account also responded and said: “This is great to hear!”
Joe, who was “overwhelmed” with the response from fans and the Liverpool skipper said
Joe said: “Thank you so much for this! Gutted can’t be out there in Rome watching but hope you can get the win so I can see you at Wembley again next week!”
After receiving a huge response from their tweet, Joe said: “It felt small compared to everything else we do and try to challenge/face but you’re right – just being authentically ourselves is giving visibility and breaking boundaries!”
