Rafael Benitez has addressed his quest for success at Everton and discussed the “balance” he will look to achieve in his side.
Rafa Benitez said: “I like to say things if I can deliver. I’m not here to promise I will win this title or another one, that would not be right or fair. All my life has been working hard, trying to be successful, and I’ve been lucky enough to be successful in different countries and different levels. I will try to do that. With the years that I’ve been in the game, the knowledge of the city, the knowledge of the fans, the knowledge of the Premier League.”
Benitez has also addressed his knowledge of the squad and touched on the playing style he wants to introduce at Goodison. The 61-year-old wants to make his side “competitive” and talked of introducing a balance to make sure that can happen across the 2021/22 season.
Rafa Benitez added: “I was watching games all this time and I know the majority of the players. If not, I will use the staff to know exactly every detail about everyone, trying to bring the best from everyone and make them competitive. So I think it’s something that, in modern football, they don’t realise. They talk about nice football and yes we like to play well because you will win more games, but you have to compete. So we try to have a team that will have balance. Balance means attack and defend, and be sure that you can compete against anyone. It doesn’t matter the name of the other team.”
