Arsenal look set to receive a considerable transfer windfall with a potential sale of Lucas Torreira this summer. The Uruguayan midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta and was sent out on-loan to Atletico Madrid last season. The player’s agent Pablo Bentancur has admitted that Torreira himself is eyeing a departure. Not only that however, but he has also revealed that Arsenal plan to hold talks regarding a potential sale in the not so distant future.
Pablo Bentancur said: “He wants to go back to Italy. Clubs have called me from France, Russia and Spain. But Lucas wants to embrace Serie A again to prove his worth. Arsenal have understood the situation and will come to meet us.”
According to transfermarkt, the 25-year-old is valued at £18m with just two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium. That fee would of course be hugely useful for the Gunners as Edu and Mikel Arteta attempt to bolster the squad ahead of the 2021/22 season.
