Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has joined Jose Mourinho in praising Tottenham’s training ground. The centre-back is currently with the England squad at Spurs’ Enfield Training Centre as preparations continue for the Three Lions’ final Euro 2020 group match against the Czech Republic at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday. Of course, their surroundings are not unfamiliar to the likes of Harry Kane but Mings has been left hugely impressed by the North London club’s facilities.
Tyrone Mings said: “Yeah, I have never been here before in this unbelievable set-up. I thought we had a good training ground until I came here.”
Mings’ thoughts echo those of former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese was in charge of the club between November 2019 and April 2021 and was also left hailing the club’s current training set-up.
Talking shortly after being announced as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor in North London, the former Chelsea and Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho said: “The training ground is second to none. It probably can only be compared with some American football training grounds. You cannot compare with European football at any level – and I’ve been in the majority of the best places. It’s impossible to compare anything, the same as the stadium. I think it’s something that has to make us all very, very proud. But not just that, the conditions you have to work in are absolutely amazing.”
The England squad will certainly be hoping to take advantage of the facilities as they attempt to plot a route through to the last 16 of the Euros. The Three Lions currently sit second in Group D, with a point at Wembley being enough to see them guarantee a place in the knockout rounds.
