Declan Rice has been reported as a transfer target for Manchester United this summer but Nicky Butt does not believe Rice would improve the Red Devils. The former Manchester United midfielder compared Rice to Scotland international Scott McTominay but does not believe the Hammer to be an improvement on the Manchester United man.
Nicky Butt said: “I think Man United are solid enough in midfield. I keep hearing things about Declan Rice, but is he a better player than Scott McTominay? I’m not sure; I think with McTominay, Paul Pogba and obviously Bruno Fernandes, we [Manchester United] are in a good place in the middle of the park.”
Rice is allegedly interested in a move to Old Trafford with the Manchester Evening News reporting that he was questioning the United players about life in Manchester during the England get-together in March.
David Moyes said: “I certainly wouldn’t put a price on him. The owners think he’s worth £100 million – well, I completely disagree with that. You can decide which figure you want to put on it but I wouldn’t be sanctioning anything like that, that’s for sure.”
Despite the 0-0 draw with Scotland, England remain favourites to win Group D with three points against the Czech Republic and their two West Ham stars Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek enough to seal top spot for the Three Lions.
