Aston Villa players have been sending messages of support to Christian Eriksen after the former Tottenham star collapsed during a Euro 2020 match. Eriksen was running to receive a throw-in towards the end of the first half in Copenhagen when he stumbled and fell to the ground. He was seen to be conscious as he was stretchered off the pitch and has now been transferred to hospital.
UEFA have released a statement saying: “Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.”
The Danish FA sent a message which read: “Christian Eriksen is awake and will have further examinations in hospital. The match is temporarily postponed.”
Villa captain Jack Grealish, who is part of the England squad due to open their campaign against Croatia on Sunday, took to Twitter to give his reaction.
Jack grealish said: “Eriksen please.”

Similarly, Villa full-back
Matty Cash said: “Prayers with Christian Eriksen and his family.”
And Ahmed Elmohamady, who is leaving Villa Park this summer said: “Eriksen come on you king.”
UEFA later confirmed that the game would resume this evening, at the players’ request following the news that Eriksen is awake and stable.
UEFA said: “The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.”
