Ruben Dias says his Premier League Player of the Year award is a reward for the whole Manchester City team’s performances in the 2020/21 campaign, as he vowed to pick up where he left off next season. Dias, already crowned City’s Player of the Year and the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year, continued his dominance of the individual awards with the Premier League accolade after a brilliant debut season in England. Taking to social media after picking up his second league-wide award, Dias thanked those who voted for him and sent a message that he has no intention of resting on his laurels.
Ruben Dias said: “Fantastic to finish the season off by being named Premier League Player of the Season! A reward for all the team who worked so hard to bring our fans the title. Thank you to the captains, panel and fans who voted for me. We’ll see you in a few months to do it all over again!”
Also picking up a Premier League award was new Young Player of the Year Phil Foden, while manager Pep Guardiola won the Manager of the Year award.
Phil Foden said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me as the Premier League Young Player of the Season! Proud of our whole team and appreciate the amazing support you have given us all this season!”
Foden and Dias could win awards at Sunday’s PFA Awards, along with Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan, who are also nominated.
