Irish international Roy Keane finally gave struggling Nottingham Forest a major boost by signing a new three and a half year deal at the club. There had been mounting speculations that Forest would cash in on their £5 million rated midfielder but boss Brian Clough offered him the kind of deal he could not refuse.
Roy Keane said “The club has been very generous in their offer and I will never forget that they first gave me a chance in the game. Hopefully, by signing a new contract I have shown my loyalty to them.”
Keane joined Forest less than three years earlier for a meagre £25000 from Cobh Ramblers.
