Kalvin Phillips has revealed how he and his Leeds United team-mates were left in awe of champions Liverpool when the sides clashed at Anfield. Phillips says he was ‘starstruck’ by Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah as the Whites made their Premier League bow. Salah scored a hat-trick as Jurgen Klopp’s side denied the Whites a point they deserved having given the reds a real scare in the opening match.
Kalvin Phillips said: “For the first ten minutes, we were starstruck by the players we were playing against. But after that, we knuckled down and tried to get a result. Players such as Mo Salah, Marcus Rashford – if you go and you have a good game, they recognise you.”
