Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a move for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling this summer. City coach Pep Guardiola is open to selling the English talisman as he aims to freshen up his side heading into the 2021/22 season. Sterling had initially struggled for consistency with the Citizens but Guardiola credited Arteta with helping the winger improve his end product.
Pep Guardiola said: “I think he is enjoying scoring goals, he’s not scared. Now he realises, wow, how fun and good it is to score goals. Now he is more focused on that. Mikel Arteta is working many, many days after training sessions for the last action, for the control in the last moment. For his improvement, [Sterling] wants to stay there and shoot and improve with the goalkeepers.”
Arteta then helped turn Sterling into a goalscoring machine with the Englishman netting 23 and 25 times in 2017/18 and 2018/19 respectively.
