Douglas departing message
Following the official confirmation of his exit from Leeds United, Barry Douglas has taken to social media to say his goodbyes to the fans and to wish the club good luck. Douglas spent this past season on loan at Blackburn Rovers after missing out on the chance to feature for the Whites in the Premier League. It means the Scottish player’s three year spell at Elland Road is now officially over and while it may not have ended how he had hoped, the ex-Wolves player sent a classy departing message to supporters.
Barry Douglas said; “Now my Leeds exit has been made official just want to thank all the fans for the kind messages, @LUFC is a very special club and I wish everyone associated with the club nothing but continued success I will be watching as a fan from now on and enjoying the journey #mot”
Dallas unsure about award
Leeds’ player of the year Stuart Dallas will wish this season would never end after it was confirmed he will captain Northern Ireland in Sunday’s friendly against Malta in Austria. For Dallas, who picked up three awards last weekend in Leeds end-of-season awards night, it is the latest accolade in what has been a remarkable year for the 30-year-old. Speaking while on international duty, Dallas has talked about his awards win, admitting he was surprised by his goal of the season award.
Stuart Dallas said: “It was a good season for me, and for the club it was a brilliant first season back in the Premier League. Obviously the individual awards that came along with that were nice, although I’m not sure about goal of the season, it was more a moment, but I’ve had a great season. I’ve been fit, that’s the main thing, and that’s why I want to come here to try to continue that.”
Despite the demands of a gruelling campaign for the Whites, Dallas says he had no hesitation in playing on for his country in a friendly game.
Stuart Dallas added: “It probably would have been easy (not to come), but that’s not what I’m about. Where we are as a group, I think it’s important as senior players you set an example to the younger players coming in. We want to have the right culture and that means turning up to these games. We’re in a privileged position, it’s a privilege and an honour to be here, and I enjoy coming and meeting up with the boys.”
