The curtain will be drawn on the most exciting Wolverhampton Wanderers era in modern history on Sunday. After four years in the hot seat, the mastermind behind Wolves’ rise from Championship to the Europa League quarter-finals will depart. Fittingly, Nuno Espirito Santo’s final game in charge will be played out in front of supporters at Molineux.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “It’s fantastic, so so good. It means everything for us in football. You feel that the game is back again. Even if there’s 5,000, 6,000 – the voices, their presence, the atmosphere – it’s football. Everybody will be together on Sunday. Raul (Jimenez) will be there, all the players will be there and it will be a special moment. After Sunday and for the next season, we want full stadiums and everybody engaged. I truly believe it’s going to be better than ever.”
That was one of Nuno’s final statements from a press conference which few would have predicted would be his last at the club’s training ground. For most fans, the last four years have been better than ever. Fosun now need to make sure Wolves get better still.
