David McGoldrick says the players want to know who the new manager is going to be before they leave for pre-season.
David McGoldrick said: There’s a fight for places, but who is going to be the manager?” he asked following last night’s defeat at Newcastle. Who knows? Everything is up (in the air). He might be watching, Hecky might be it, I don’t know. Hecky has got us in and I really like him, the boys are really responding to him and working. We are taking it as Hecky is our manager for pre-season at the minute. We are all playing for places and there are so many options up front, we are missing strikers. I like playing number 10, but who knows, are we going to play a number 10 next season? What are we going to do? The boys want to know. There’s no hiding from that, the boys want to know. They want to go away pre-season and we are going to be looking at Sky Sports News, we are not going to get a call to say who the new manager is going to be, we will find out when the fans find out. It’s going to be a weird summer, the manager might be watching and he might not fancy some of us, we are going to be very nervous. We are going to be watching and all places are up for grabs, no one is safe.”
