Nuno Espirito Santo insists Wolverhampton Wanderers have a ‘responsibility’ to impress returning supporters on the final day against Manchester United. Wolves completed their campaign on the road with a 1-0 defeat to Everton on Wednesday night and finish up at home to second-placed United on Sunday. Supporters will be present inside Molineux for the first time since March 2020 after coronavirus restrictions were eased at the beginning of the week. Speaking about the final day clash,
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “The fans deserve a good game on Sunday. This is our responsibility, to enjoy the final day together with our fans, hoping our future is better together.
Richarlison netted the winner for the Toffees in the 48th minute in front of a noisy Goodison Park to ensure Everton completed the double over Wolves in the Premier League. Wolves failed to create anything clear cut during the 90 minutes with a speculative volley from Morgan Gibbs-White forcing Everton’s Jordan Pickford into his toughest save.
Nuno Espirito Santo added: “It was a good performance, especially in the first half, organised, pressing high, combinations, a lot of good things. Unfortunately the corner requires more focus and the game changed from there. Overall it was a really good performance. We have to reflect on many things this season. I’m proud of the way we’ve worked together, bounced back from difficult moments, we always stick together. Many things to analyse, there’s a general feeling of unity.”
