Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Bruno Fernandes reminds him of Paul Scholes. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said new Manchester United signing Bruno Fernandes reminded him of Paul Scholes and Juan Sebastian Veron.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said “In today’s market I think we got a good deal. Bruno Fernandes has come in and done really well, given everyone a boost, that means more than getting a player in. Bruno Fernandes has done something to the crowd. You can see with the supporters, they are used to players with that personality, mentality and quality, all the attributes of a Manchester United player the fans have seen many, many times before. From day one, the first minute, Bruno Fernandes has felt like a presence in the group, demanding the ball from his first training session. Some players take time warming up, but Bruno Fernandes felt confident straight away. Bruno Fernandes has done something to the crowd. You can see with the supporters, they are used to players with that personality, mentality and quality, all the attributes of a Manchester United player the fans have seen many, many times before.”
The 25-year-old has scored one goal and has made two assists in three Premier League games since his £47m move to Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in January.
Manchester United’s net debt has increased by £73.6million to nearly £392m after a huge drop in TV and matchday revenue.
Ed Woodward said “We are pushing for a strong finish in the Premier League, the Europa League and the FA Cup as we enter the final third of the season. We have continued to make progress on our squad rebuild, with many changes in terms of players that we have brought in and players that have come through our academy. The foundation for delivering the long-term success that we are all working towards is in place as we implement our plan and our footballing vision with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.”
Old Trafford’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward announced the club’s second quarter figures that showed the drop – but he vowed to continue backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has an abundance of attacking options so opted to leave both Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira out of his Manchester United squad.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said “We’ve picked a squad of 18 that we felt it was the right 18 here. We’ve got cover on the bench for wide-men, forwards, midfielders and defenders so that was a decision I made.Victor [Lindelof] has recovered. Eric [Bailly] played really well down at Chelsea but we need to manage him properly and then give him time to recover in between. But that’s a big plus for us having Eric back. It says everything about him [McTominay] that he played a full half [vs Newcastle on Boxing Day] with a torn ligament — he’s recovered really quickly. ‘He’s been doing everything he can to get back. He looks stronger, fitter. He wanted to play today but we need to manage him properly as well.”
Both Lingard and Pereira have had their performances questioned this season, but Solskjaer insists he is just managing his options.
