Mikel Arteta thinks Chelsea have been “the best team in the league” over the past few months ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
Mikel Arteta said “Probably they’ve been the best team in the league in the last few months, what Thomas has been able to do since he arrived has been exceptional. He put the team in two finals, the way the team is looking, how solid they are defensively as well, how composed & regular they have been in their performance has been excellent.”
Chelsea have not lost in any competition since mid-April where they were beaten by Porto in the Champions League quarter-final second-leg, but still progressed on aggregate. The Blues have lost just twice since Tuchel took over in January and are coming off the back of an impressive comeback victory over champions elect Manchester City on Saturday. Chelsea went 1-0 down in the first-half, but scored two goals in the second period – including a late winner from Marcos Alonso – to take all three points at the Etihad Stadium.
The Gunners are looking to find some sort of momentum in the Premier League after beating West Bromwich Albion on Sunday night, but face a red-hot Blues team. Since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard at the west London club in January, the side have showcased their full ability going forward and in defence. Tuchel has guided Chelsea into their first Champions League final since 2012, as well as an FA Cup final and they look set to finish in the top four.
