Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson continued to wrap Ryan Giggs in cotton wool and insisted that the youngster will not be allowed to take part in any media interviews. He continued to keep a lid on his excitement about the wonder kid and managed to not go overboard in his praise for the young Welshman.
Alex Ferguson said “When they get to 22,23 or 24 then you can have an idea of what the finished article is. It’s too early now. All young players have the same situation. They have to grow up into footballers and men and stay men.”
But Southampton manager Ian Branfoot was more forthcoming in his praise for Giggs.
Ian Branfoot said “Ryan Giggs is very difficult to handle. He is one of the very best players in the country at the moment. I will be amazed if he doesn’t win the PFA young player of the year award.”
