Ryan Kent says he was flattered by interest from Leeds United but his sole focus is on Rangers. The Whites have consistently been linked to the winger over the last two years after he initially impressed on loan at Ibrox from Liverpool before turning his move into a permanent one.
Ryan Kent said: “It’s nice to be linked with other football clubs, the big clubs, but you’ve got to understand the duty of where you’re at and as long as I’m at Rangers I’ll always give 100 per cent to the club. I love this place and it’s done so much for me. As long as I am here my mind is solely focused on Rangers. Is the Champions League a motivation? Massive. It’s the biggest stage in club football and to be able to test yourself against the best players and teams in the world would be quite special.”
Kent has flourished under Steven Gerrard’s management at Ibrox and the 24-year-old says the Liverpool legend has shown him the importance of having an end product in his game.
Ryan Kent said: “I probably didn’t understand the importance of having numbers in my game. I used to get more satisfaction out of going past two or three players on a football field rather than scoring goals. It’s only really sitting down with the gaffer to understand the importance of adding numbers to my game, where goals and assists will take me in my career. Different players require different things out of games but he has seen everything in football and played at the very highest level, so he knows what it takes to get there. He wants the best for me from my career and understands the importance of goals, numbers and assists and that’s helped me get to this stage this season and help the team.”
