Ezgjan Alioski had an afternoon to forget at the heart of Leeds United’s dismal defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. Marcelo Bielsa was asked why he took the number 10 off for Ian Poveda during the interval and he focused more on the gains down the wing than the failings of Alioski.
Marcelo Bielsa said: “I wanted to position natural winger on the right-hand side because in the first half we were able to get to that sector easily. And I thought [Stuart] Dallas playing from a deeper position could create a little bit more.”
With only four matches to play and options emerging for rotation in the central positions, there may yet be a return to left-back for Dallas. Alioski’s days at Elland Road remain numbered until he signs that new contract.
