Sam Allardyce will be hoping that injuries within his West Brom squad will be limited to a bare minimum as he leads the Albion into the final few matches of their Premier League campaign. Knocks and niggles do tend to be part and parcel of football; players will inevitably miss matches because of injuries suffered, with varying degrees of severity and enforced spells on the sidelines. Snodgrass wasn’t back in time to face former club Villa – but he could hand Allardyce a boost and a selection quandary when Wolves visit on Bank Holiday Monday.
Sam Allardyce said: “He just has to stay fit first! The problem for Robert has been that it’s not been one particular injury, it’s been every injury that he’s picked up. It’s been unusual that he’s picked up so many injuries over this period of time. The epidural is working, but not as quickly as we’d expected, so I would think that by the beginning of next week, he’d be fit to train and be selected.”
Whether or not the Serb will play for Albion again remains to be seen after he made a rare appearance against former club Chelsea recently – and hobbled off around 13 minutes later after pulling up. Allardyce confirmed it was a serious hamstring injury.
Sam Allardyce added: “Branislav will be out for a long time, we think. We will have to assess it week-by-week, but certainly at the moment it looks like it’s going to be a long period.”
The veteran defender’s contract is up at the end of this season.
