Nuno Espirito Santo has praised match-winner Willian Jose and Nelson Semedo after Wolverhampton Wanderers’ win over Sheffield United.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “It’s very important. Willian joined us and was always inside the team, playing and working hard with his teammates. He links the game, drops, helps the team and the goal will boost his confidence for sure.”
Moments before Wolves counter-attacked devastatingly for Willian’s winner, Semedo produced an outstanding block to deny Enda Stevens a goal at the other end. The Portuguese full-back has been criticised heavily this season following his transfer from Barcelona, but his performances are becoming more accomplished each week.
Nuno Espirito Santo added: “He keeps improving. It’s not easy, it’s very difficult because the Premier League is very demanding. Defensively on duels is something he needs to improve but he is working hard and improving. It’s about us, together, finding the best for the player. The role of the full-backs is very important. It’s hard work, up and down, you have to give balance, width, make one-v-ones. We need to keep pushing and looking for the best from the players, but I’m optimistic with Nelson.”
