Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has confirmed Trezeguet is ‘upset’ after picking up an injury in Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool.
Dean Smith said after the match: “He certainly has (found form). He came on as a substitute and made an impact last week, scoring twice against Fulham. He played well again today and played his part but unfortunately he’s gone off injured. We’re a little bit worried to see what the extent of the injury is. He’s a little bit upset but we’ll see over time.”
Trezeguet received treatment from Villa’s physios on the pitch but couldn’t continue, with Jacob Ramsey coming on. The 26-year-old missed games earlier this season with head and hamstring injuries. Sanson came off during the win against Fulham having picked up a knock to his knee and missed the defeat to Liverpool.
Dean Smith added: “He got a whack on his knee last week and he’s just not fully recovered. He came off just after half-time last week so we’re just going to rest him.”
Villa have an 11-day break from Premier League action before facing Manchester City at home on April 21.
