John Egan is pushing for a return to the starting XI in time for Sunday’s visit of Arsenal. The Republic of Ireland international dislocated a toe in the 3-0 defeat to West Ham in February and missed the following six Sheffield United matches.
Paul Heckingbottom said: “We have got an opportunity now to get more training sessions in him, which is important. Important for John and important for us. We need people fit and available. I would love to have everyone available and be working with a full squad. It would give us more options and allow for different changes.”
Heckingbottom could also be boosted by the return of Chris Basham. The defender has missed the last two matches after picking up a knock in training. He had not returned to the grass at Shirecliffe prior to the Leeds match, but the Blades boss was hoping the issue will have cleared this week.
Paul Heckingbottom said: “Bash was a strange one, it’s from contact. Hopefully, we can clear that up in the next few days and have him available.”
Jayden Bogle has returned to training this week after coming off with a head injury against Leeds, but George Baldock’s availability is unknown.
