Miguel Almiron said: “I would like to play in a team that fights more. Here I am happy and I feel comfortable.”
Almiron had been due to meet up with the Paraguayan squad this week for their latest World Cup qualifiers before they were postponed due to a rise in Covid cases in South America. And he has offered an insight into his life in Newcastle as well as issuing a message to the Paraguayan people.
Miguel Almiron added: “My family and I are fine, we try not to go out too much. We have to be grateful that we are healthy. Mentally, I’m fine and wanting to play with La Albirroja. I go to the club two hours before, we wear masks, we can only get out to eat, we are separated and we follow a very strict protocol. Thank God with the work here at Newcastle I am already training normally. I tell the Paraguayan people to be patient and take care of the covid issue.”
Almiron shook off a knee injury to return to action in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton and he is set to play a key role in United’s bid to achieve Premier League survival. The former Lanus star has scored 13 goals and registered five assists in 82 appearances for the Magpies.
The Paraguayan international’s agent, Daniel Campos, sparked controversy by hinting that the forward is ready to leave Newcastle earlier this season.
