JONATHAN Woodgate felt referee Martin Atkinson got wrong a “blatant decision” which led to Saints’ second goal at Vitality Stadium. The Cherries head coach saw his team suffer a 3-0 defeat to their south-coast neighbours in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Asked about the second goal,
Jonathan Woodgate said: “To be honest with you, it should have been a throw-in (to Cherries). Steve Cook kicked it off their man, or block-tackled. It should have been our ball, that was the most frustrating thing. We were remonstrating with the fourth official about it. It was a blatant decision that they have missed. The fourth official has got to help the referee in that situation. It is disappointing but we should do a lot better with that second goal. When you go in at 1-0 it’s different, 2-0 is difficult. The players kept on going. I can’t knock their attitudes or their mentality.”
