Marcos Rojo says he has been in touch with Edinson Cavani amid speculation surrounding the striker’s Manchester United future. Rojo was asked about Cavani in a post-match interview
Marcos Rojo said: “I spoke with him. I played a little with him. We were together for four or five months. He is a great professional and if he reaches Argentine football, he would be a great star that would do Argentine football good.”
Rojo also discussed his return to his native Argentina after a decade playing in Russia (Spartak Moscow), Portugal (Sporting Lisbon) and England (United).
Marcus Rojo added: “It had been a long time, it was almost 10 years playing outside. One misses the family and these things. Argentine football is very beautiful and I wanted to fully enjoy it. Here I am.”
After taking time to build up his fitness, Rojo was pleased to finally get on the pitch.
Marcos Rojo said: “I am very happy to have debuted here and in a Superclasico . Although entering from the bench is a little more difficult, I felt very good and very comfortable. I have been working very hard, getting to know my team-mates. The important thing was to get my debut.”
