Jose Mourinho has stated that Son Heung-min has a muscular injury following his early substitution in the 2-1 north London derby defeat away at Arsenal.
Mourinho’s second substitution not long after the restart saw Gareth Bale hooked after a quiet evening for the player. Starting on the right again after his recent good form in front of goal, the Welshman just couldn’t get himself into the game and in the end made way for Moussa Sissoko. Asked for the reason why both Bale and Tanguy Ndombele were brought off in the second half despite them needing a goal,
Jose Mourinho added: “Intensity. Gareth and Tanguy, we need more intensity in that game. We need to press more. We need to get more depth. We need to be more intense in the game. We needed initially Sissoko to give us that intensity in midfield that Tanguy was not bringing. And then… Dele was a player that of course he had a desire to play, in the last match he didn’t complete 90 minutes, he was fresh also to come, he has a good understanding with Harry. And at the time I saw that Lamela and Lucas from the sides, would give us more intensity which we didn’t have.”
