Manchester United legend and part of the famous Busby Babes, Sir Bobby Charlton believed that signing Eric Cantona from Leeds was one of the most important things to have happened to that club in years.
Sir Bobby Charlton said “I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say he is the big difference between where we are and where we might have been if he had not been signed by Alex Ferguson for £1.2 million. Ask Brian McClair or Mark Hughes or Ryan Giggs about him and they will tell you how complementary his skill is in making them play better. You can see opponents feel the pressure of his presence even before thinking of how to contain his enormous talent.”
Sir Bobby Charlton believed that Cantona had galvanized the other players, excited the crowd and terrified the opponents in a way he had not known in years.
