Glenn Roeder passes away
Former Newcastle manager and player Glenn Roeder passed away on Sunday afternoon after a long illness, the League Managerās Association announced. Roeder played as a defender for six years at Newcastle in the 1980s, before returning as a manager in 2006.
LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson said: āA cultured defender as a player, he managed with a studious style and was always generous with his time and ideas. Glenn was such an unassuming, kind gentleman who demonstrated lifelong dedication to the game. Not one to court headlines, his commitment and application to his work at all levels warrants special mention. Football has lost a great servant today and our sincere condolences go to Glennās family and friends.ā
Bruceās anxious wait
Newcastle boss Bruce is now waiting on the results of scans for Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Emil Krafth after the trio picked up injury problems on Saturday night. Speaking after the draw with Wolves,
Steve Bruce said: āWeāll not know until scans tomorrow. Weāll have scans fixed up and see how he is. The way he was at half-time told it all, really. As Iāve said many, many times with Almiron, heās a wonderful pro and he was in distress with it. Letās hope itās not that bad.ā
Nuno pays tribute to Dubravka
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been full of praise for Martin Dubravka after the Slovak goalkeeper made a fine save to deny the visitors taking all three points late on.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: āThatās what goalkeepers do. āThey get compliments sometimes when one player is not so accurate and so clinical but it was good from Dubravka.ā
