Harvey Barnes has said he will be “back stronger in no time” after he became the latest Leicester City player to suffer a serious injury. The winger was stretchered off during City’s defeat to Arsenal and manager Brendan Rodgers said he will be out for a minimum of six weeks while he undergoes an operation on his knee.
After the game, Barnes tried to remain upbeat, writing on social media: “Thank you for all your messages of support, I’ll be back stronger in no time!”
Brendan Rodgers said: “It’s not good news. It looks like he will need an operation. He will be out for six weeks minimum.
A little bit of the bone in the knee has come off so he will need that repaired. He’s had niggles with it hence the reason why we tried to recover him on Thursday to rest him a bit and take some pressure off it. It’s a bad one for him and a huge blow for us.
Brendan Rodgers added: “I believe it’s around his cartilage. He’s had issues with it. He had a clash of knees in a game a few weeks ago so it has been irritable. Then today he had a challenge right on it and that has made it worse. The consolation is that it’s not going to be as long as what it looked like.”
