Nuno Espirito Santo has reiterated his belief that Willian Jose will come good for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “He’s doing well, he’s helping the team. He’s helping the team a lot. He’s a hard worker and the moment the team recognises better his movements, he can give us many things. He’s a hard worker and a very talented player.”
Wolves came from behind to earn another point against Newcastle, just as they did twice in the Premier League last season. All four games between the clubs in the last two seasons have ended 1-1. Ruben Neves netted the leveller with his fifth goal in 2021 after Jamaal Lascelles had earlier given Newcastle the lead.
Nuno Espirito Santo added: “Newcastle started well, after that I think we managed the game better. I’m not so happy with the way we conceded from a second phase at a set-piece, but the reaction was good and we finished the game really well. We were pressing high, recovering the ball, this is what we expect. Our expectations are high because we know that we have talented players and we need to improve them. We are working very hard and we will do it.”
The striker has failed to score in his first eight matches for Wolves since joining on loan from Real Sociedad towards the end of the January transfer window. Willian’s latest outing came in Wolves’ 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, but he struggled to combine with his teammates before being replaced by Fabio Silva in the final 10 minutes at St James’ Park.
