United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still in contact with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland. The 20-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a move to United, played for Solskjaer at Norwegian side Molde. The United manager then tried to sign Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg last year, but he instead moved to Dortmund – where he has turned into one of Europe’s hottest talents. Now, Solskjaer has confirmed that he is still in contact with his compatriot amid transfer links to Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “You know I can’t speak about Erling, he’s with Borussia Dortmund, it’s disrespectful to talk about it apart from that I know him and I speak to him. Who wasn’t interested in him a year ago? Everyone would say you take the best players in the world. Erling is a top player.”
Solskjaer has confirmed that trio Edinson Cavani, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay will still be unavailable for Manchester United’s second-leg with Real Sociedad on Thursday.
Ole Gunnar Solkjaer said: “No. They are still out. Still not trained enough, more or less the same squad vs Newcastle.”
