Liverpool came back from the dead for the second time in two weeks running with Ian Rush’s late equaliser giving them a point at Maine Road against Manchester City. With City looking set for the win after dominating the second half, Rush scored two minutes from the end of normal time.
Graeme Souness said ‘’We did well to get something out of the game after surviving the second half. For the second week running we have come back from the dead.’’
Brian Horton said ‘’We should have won the game, Liverpool had two chances and scored one goal – we are very disappointed. The second half was our best performance since I came here. That’s the longest injury time I have ever known in football. The match finished at two minutes to five.’’
