Ralph Hasenhuttl was left pleased with Nathan Redmond’s display as a striker against Wolves, admitting a goal would have been “the cherry on the top”. Asked how well he thought the new-look strike-force performed,
Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “Very well. It’s interesting with Reddy, upfront I like it more sometimes to be honest because he gives me more deep runs and his quality on the ball is always a threat for the opponent I think. He had a big chance and it was a pity that he didn’t score, that would’ve been the cherry on the top I think for the good performance. But I’m happy to have him back.”
Redmond lined up in an unfamiliar centre-forward berth at Molineux alongside Danny Ings and came close to finding the net in the second half. The 26-year-old broke away from the defence and looked set to find the net, only to be denied by John Ruddy one-on-one. Saints went on to win 2-0 with Stuart Armstrong adding to Danny Ings’s earlier strike.
