Harry Maguire teased Fred over his lack of goals for Manchester United following the FA Cup win over West Ham on Tuesday night. United booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition thanks to a strike from substitute Scott McTominay in the first-half of extra-time. McTominay’s goal was his seventh of the season from and he has scored in each of United’s last three games. Speaking after the match Maguire hailed United’s ability to score from all areas of the pitch, before joking midfielder Fred is the only player not chipping in at the moment.
Harry Maguire said: “We need to spread goals around the team. We are doing that a lot more now. Obviously Paul as well in midfield has chipped in with some big goals for us, still waiting on Fred! I’m sure one of his shots will find the back of the net soon. It’s important that we chip in with goals all around the team. Obviously we have got the forwards, but for Scott to chip in with seven goals is a good return and is something he should demand of himself. It is something I’m sure he wants to bring to his game.”
Brazilian midfielder Fred has scored three goals in 99 appearances since he joined the club from Shakhtar in the summer of 2018.
