Amad Diallo is set to make his second Manchester United appearance when the Under-23s face Blackburn on Friday night. Diallo made his United bow last weekend as the youth team thrashed Liverpool’s U23s 6-3 last weekend, with the 18-year-old winger netting a brace in the game. Diallo’s impressive performance led to speculation he could make his first appearance for the senior side this week, but it looks like he is set to stay at reserve level for the time being. That’s because a post from Diallo’s representatives on social media hinted the Ivorian winger will be in action when United face Blackburn at Leigh Sports Village in the Premier League 2 Division One clash. The post was comprised of photos from Diallo’s appearance against Liverpool and included the word ‘matchday’ as well as the United and Blackburn crests. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a decision on Diallo’s involvement on Thursday as he looks to juggle his squad ahead of the Premier League clash with Everton this weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “We will make a decision on Amad in the week [on] what he does at the weekend – if he’s in our squad. “It depends on many factors, if we have injuries or Covid. You never know, but he might be playing on Friday [for the U23s] but yeah. I will make a decision on Thursday.”
Diallo completed his £37million move to United from Atalanta last month and has been named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for the upcoming Europa League competition. United travel to Real Sociedad for their round-of-32 first leg on February 18 and host the sixth-placed La Liga side on February 25 in the return leg.
