Alan Pardew has one major regret from his time as Newcastle manager. Pardew’s time at the club saw Newcastle qualify for Europe and go far in the Europa League knockout stages, eventually losing to Benfica in the quarter-final. And reflecting on his time in the Northeast, the Englishman now says that is his “one regret” from his time at the club.
Alan Pardew: “When we went into Europe, we were so unlucky not to win that quarter-final against Benfica. We were so unlucky. I look back and the one regret was that game. We played really well in both games but we just didn’t get the breaks. I can talk about cup finals – ‘oh, I didn’t get a break here or I didn’t get a break there’ – but the games I look back on were those two games against Benfica. We should have won those. We were unlucky.”
