Carlo Ancelotti believes Richarlison needs to “sacrifice” more and work harder to improve his Everton form. The Brazilian has struggled for consistency over the last few weeks and has only scored two goals in all competitions since the end of September. The 23-year-old has been one of the Blues’ key players ever since his move from Watford in the summer of 2018 with some fantastic performances during his time on Merseyside. And, following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, the manager revealed how he believes Richarlison can return to form.
Carlo Ancelotti said: “He has to be more focused, he has to sacrifice more and that is it. There is no other way that I know to improve. I think he is not in a good moment because the statistics talk. It is true that he was suspended for three and he had difficulties to reach his best level. I hope that he can reach his best level with sacrificing more and more focus. Yes, work harder on the pitch. Harder. He is working hard on the pitch and working hard in training. He has to understand what he is doing. I think he works hard every day. He has to work harder.”
Richarlison has scored six goals in all competitions across 19 appearances for Everton this season.
