Carlo Ancelotti did not speak to Jordan Pickford after his mistake allowed Leicester City to equalise at Goodison Park tonight declaring:
Carlo Ancelotti said “There is no reason”.
The Everton boss refused to criticise Pickford for his error and insisted he felt no need to pull the goalkeeper to one side following the draw. Ancelotti said Pickford’s view was “not so good” as the ball came through a sea of legs but the strike was straight at the goalkeeper and he still failed to save it.
Carlo Ancelotti said “In the end, they put a lot of pressure on us,” Ancelotti said. They didn’t have clear opportunities. The goal was difficult because the view of Jordan was not so good, there were a lot of legs there and it was difficult to catch the ball and unfortunately they scored.”
Asked if he had spoken to Pickford about the error,
Carlo Ancelotti said “I spoke with the players saying that the point is good if we are able to win on Saturday so we are focused on Saturday. I didn’t speak with him directly and I am not going to speak with him. There is no reason.”
