Roy Hodgson says that a knock picked up against Arsenal meant that Wilfried Zaha could not make the squad for Crystal Palace’s clash against Manchester City. The attacker looked dangerous against Mikel Arteta’s side on Thursday night, but certainly picked up his fair share of free-kicks during the game, including when Granit Xhaka trod on his foot. Hodgson explained that the attacker was missing from the trip north due to an injury picked up against the Gunners.
Roy Hodgson said “Every time Wilf doesn’t play it’s a miss, that’s been well-documented, We’d loved to have had him here, we’d loved to have had Cheik [Kouyate] here as well but these things happen in a game of football. We’re perhaps fortunate that with only a couple of days between the games that we didn’t pick up even more injuries like the one Wilf picked up.”
